Discover the Enchantment of Finnish Lapland Through the Lens of Kristian Kaarna

The extraordinary "Tykkylumi" snow of Finnish Lapland, formed under rare and specific conditions, transforms the landscape into a frosty wonderland. In this captivating exhibition, Kristian Kaarna, returning to his native Finland, captures the magic of this unique snow. His photographs reveal natural snow sculptures that rise like enchanted figures, sculpted by the very hands of winter.

The fleeting daylight hours in Lapland cast the snow in an ever-changing spectrum of colors—whites, icy blues, golden hues, and soft purples—creating a stunning contrast against the cold, short days. The low winter sun casts long, ethereal shadows, accentuating the otherworldly beauty of this Arctic wilderness.

What may seem like an all-white landscape is, in fact, a vivid display of color and form, depending on the direction of the shot and the time of day. Kaarna's work captures these impressive, often surprising colors and the profound cold, offering a visual experience of Laponia's breathtaking and vibrant winter scenery.
